Indian Blanket (a.k.a. the Firewheel)

yellow & orange flower

This is a perfect complement to some of the blues and purples you've already seen. this species is known as the indian blanket or the fire wheel (perhaps a more appropriate name!), apparently because it bears a certain resemblance to the those multi-colored weavings. This species first started appearing in March and by May had proliferated to cover quite a few fields in town. I find this to be a very interesting looking flower.
